Description
The Radian Model 1 Complete Upper is built for the shooter who wants a precision-oriented AR-15 upper without spending time sourcing and fitting individual components. It suits competitive shooters, serious range work, and anyone who wants a match-grade platform ready to run out of the box.
The barrel is chambered in .223 Wylde, a chamber specification designed to stabilize both .223 Remington and 5.56 NATO pressure loads while maintaining the tighter throat dimensions that improve accuracy with match ammunition. Radian uses 416R stainless steel for the barrel, a grade that machines to tighter dimensional tolerances than standard barrel steel and resists the surface corrosion that can degrade a bore over time. The barrel threads 1/2×28, which covers the widest range of available .223 muzzle devices.
The 14.5-inch barrel runs a mid-length gas system, which extends the distance between the gas port and the bolt carrier group compared to a carbine-length setup. That longer dwell time smooths out the recoil impulse and reduces the velocity at which the bolt cycles, putting less stress on the carrier and buffers during sustained fire. It also tends to run more reliably with a suppressor attached, since the Radian Raptor-SD charging handle included here is designed specifically around suppressed use.
The upper receiver itself is billet-machined from 7075-T6 aluminum and mates with a proprietary extended handguard that integrates structurally with the receiver rather than floating independently. M-LOK slots run the length of the handguard for accessory mounting. Every unit is hand-assembled and inspected by a Radian gunsmith, and the upper carries a lifetime guarantee from the manufacturer.
