Description

The Reptilia DOT Mount is built for shooters who want a purpose-designed solution for mounting an Aimpoint T-1 or T-2 on an AR-platform rifle without the bulk or snag points common to taller, more complex mounts. The lower 1/3 co-witness height positions the optic so that iron sights appear in the lower third of the sight picture, keeping the red dot at a natural cheek-weld height while leaving backup irons available without removing the optic from the sight line entirely — a practical arrangement for a rifle used under any time pressure.

The body is machined from 7075-T6 aluminum, a grade chosen for its strength-to-weight ratio, and finished in Reptilia’s Flat Dark Earth anodize using a Milspec Type III hard anodize process. That finish is not paint; it is an electrochemical conversion of the surface aluminum into aluminum oxide, which is harder than the base metal and integrated with it rather than sitting on top. The result resists abrasion and corrosion without adding meaningful thickness. The spring-loaded clamp and mounting bolt are nitrided steel, a surface treatment that reduces friction and resists rust at the contact points that see the most mechanical stress during installation and removal.
