Description

The Riton 1 Primal 4-12×50 is a hunting scope built for deer hunters and general big-game pursuits who want a clean, no-clutter sight picture without paying a premium price to get it. It sits in second focal plane configuration, which means the reticle stays the same apparent size as you dial through the magnification range — a practical choice for hunters who set a power and leave it, rather than those who need holdover marks to scale with zoom.

The RDH reticle takes the traditional duplex concept and adds an illuminated center dot rather than replacing the duplex arms with a complex BDC grid. That keeps your field of view clear when tracking moving game, and the dot gives you a defined aiming point when the target is backed against dark timber or low-light brush where a plain crosshair tends to disappear. Six brightness levels are available, each with an off position in between, so you can kill the illumination entirely without cycling through every setting.

The 50mm objective gathers meaningful light at dusk and dawn — the hours when most deer are actually moving — and the fully multi-coated optical system works throughout every lens surface to reduce reflection and improve transmission across those low-light conditions. Riton uses their HD glass formulation here, rated at 99.5% light transmission, which supports a bright image even at the upper end of the magnification range where exit pupil naturally shrinks.

An integrated throw lever lets you shift magnification quickly with gloves on, which matters when a buck steps out and you’re running 4x for a close shot or need to reach out to 12x for a hillside crossing. The scope is nitrogen-purged and sealed against moisture and internal fogging.
