The Obsidian 45 is Rugged Suppressors’ full-size pistol suppressor built around the ADAPT modular system, which lets you run the suppressor in either its full-length or a shortened configuration depending on how much size reduction you need versus how much sound attenuation you want. That kind of adjustability matters when you’re fitting a suppressor to different hosts — a full-size 1911 carries differently than a compact, and being able to trim the overall package without buying a separate can is a practical advantage.

The baffles are machined from 17-4 PH stainless steel bar stock, a grade chosen for its ability to hold up under sustained fire and repeated cleaning cycles. Each baffle uses two indexing tabs to keep alignment consistent on reassembly — a detail that matters because a misaligned baffle stack affects both accuracy and suppressor longevity. The non-slotted baffle design creates a full circumference gas seal against the tube, which significantly reduces gas blowback to the shooter’s face. That’s the kind of design choice that becomes noticeable quickly if you shoot suppressed indoors or in confined positions.

The mount is also machined from 17-4 PH stainless steel, and Rugged placed the serial engraving on the thickest cross-section of the mount specifically so the suppressor can be re-serialized onto a new tube if the outer housing is ever damaged. The Obsidian 45 pistons are cross-compatible with SilencerCo slotted pistons, which broadens your options for fitting it to different threaded hosts. The suppressor ships with a .578×28 piston — the thread pattern standard on most .45 Auto pistol barrels — along with the ADAPT module, a 45 front cap, and an operator’s manual. The Flat Dark Earth Cerakote finish matches common host firearm colorways and provides corrosion resistance.
