Description

The R3L Flash Mitigation System from Rugged Suppressors is purpose-built for the FN SCAR 17, addressing a specific fitment requirement that a standard 5/8″-24 flash hider cannot satisfy: the SCAR 17’s barrel shoulder geometry. That shoulder geometry dictates how the muzzle device seats and indexes against the barrel, and getting it wrong means the device either won’t time correctly or won’t lock down flush. The R3L is machined with a shoulder contoured specifically for this host, so it sits where it’s supposed to without shims or improvisation.

The prong design uses a variable fluting pattern, which breaks up the gas column as it exits the muzzle rather than venting it through uniform slots. That irregular dispersal is what drives the flash reduction. The prongs are also toothless along their outer edges, which matters during low-light handling and retention drills where a toothed crown can catch on gear or a support hand.

The Dual Taper Locking System on the outer sleeve is the feature that makes this more than a standalone muzzle device. When you’re running a Rugged Suppressors Radian 762, Surge 762, Razor 762, or Micro 30, the R3L serves as the mounting interface — the suppressor threads onto the tapered outer section and locks without a separate adapter. When the suppressor is off the rifle, the R3L continues to function as a flash hider rather than leaving the muzzle bare. The Black Nitride finish is applied, not a coating, which gives it corrosion resistance without adding appreciable surface thickness that could affect suppressor fitment.
