The MPX Copperhead is built for shooters who need a compact, controllable 9mm platform in the tightest possible package. Where a standard MPX trades on versatility, the Copperhead is purpose-built for close work, pairing a short barrel with a monolithic upper receiver finished in Elite Series Coyote Cerakote — a coating applied to the aluminum structure rather than painted over it, which matters for durability in carry conditions where the finish takes the most abuse.

The operating system is a short-stroke gas piston running from a fully closed and locked rotating bolt. That combination means the bolt never opens until pressure has dropped to a safe level, and it does so without the rearward gas dump into the action that a direct-impingement design produces. The practical result is a cooler, cleaner receiver and the ability to run a wide range of 9mm ammunition weights without adjusting the gas valve. The 3.5-inch barrel ends in an integrated muzzle brake rather than a bare crown, which recovers some of the muzzle rise that comes with the short sight radius and lightweight platform.

All controls — selector switch, magazine release, charging handle, and bolt release — are fully ambidextrous, so the pistol handles the same regardless of which hand is dominant or which shoulder a shooter transitions to. The receiver ships without sights mounted, leaving the optics rail open for whatever red dot or magnified optic suits the intended use. The Pivoting Contour Brace swivels to conform to a shooter’s forearm rather than holding a fixed angle, which keeps the pistol stable across different shooting positions. One 20-round magazine is included.
