The second focal plane layout means the MOA BDC1 reticle holds a consistent visual size as you move through the magnification range, which keeps the reticle uncluttered at lower power. The trade-off is that holdover marks on the reticle are calibrated to read accurately only at maximum magnification, so the shooter needs to be deliberate about where the power ring is set before applying any hold. That’s a straightforward discipline for anyone doing methodical long-range work, and it keeps the reticle from becoming a tangle of lines when you’re glassing a wide field at 6x.

The 52mm objective allows the optic to gather meaningful light at the top of the magnification range, where exit pupil shrinks and a larger front element helps maintain a usable image in low-contrast or fading-light conditions.
