Description
The Sig Sauer X-Ray3 day/night pistol sight set is built for shooters who need fast, reliable target acquisition across a wide range of lighting conditions — from full daylight to near-total darkness. The set pairs a tritium-phosphor front lamp with a bright green ring around it, a combination that works differently than tritium alone: in low light, tritium provides the glow, while in daylight, the surrounding ring catches ambient light and creates a high-contrast reference point the eye can lock onto quickly without searching for a dot buried in a dark sight picture.
The rear sight uses a round notch profile, which frames the front sight with an open, uncluttered window. This geometry reduces the visual competition between front and rear elements, letting the shooter focus attention where it belongs — on the front sight. That trade-off favors speed over precise reference-point confirmation, making this configuration a practical choice for defensive carry, duty use, or any application where a fast first shot matters more than a benchrest sight picture.
This set is configured with Number 8 sizing for both front and rear elements, which represents a taller, more visible sight profile suited to the P228, P229, and P239 platform dimensions. Installation is handled by a gunsmith or sight-pusher tool using the standard Sig dovetail interface common across those frames. The sights ship as a matched set, so the sight picture is consistent from the factory rather than assembled from separately sourced components.
