Description
SilencerCo built this threaded barrel for Glock 17 Gen 5 owners who want a direct, drop-in path to running a suppressor without modifying or replacing other components. The Gen 5 fitment matters here — Glock revised the barrel hood geometry and frame rails between generations, so a Gen 5-specific barrel seats and headspaces correctly where an earlier-generation part would not.
The barrel is machined from 416R stainless steel, a grade selected for its dimensional stability under heat and its resistance to the corrosion that builds up inside a suppressor host from trapped carbon and moisture. The bore and exterior are finished in black nitride, which hardens the surface and reduces friction rather than simply coating over the metal — the finish bonds into the steel rather than sitting on top of it, so it holds up through sustained use without flaking or wearing through at contact points.
The 1:10″ right-hand twist is well matched to the range of common 9mm bullet weights. Faster twists stabilize heavier projectiles at the cost of over-spinning lighter ones; 1:10″ sits in a practical middle ground that handles standard 115-grain through 147-grain loads without bias toward either end. The 147-grain subsonic loads most suppressor users prefer for reduced report fall comfortably within that range and will stabilize reliably. The barrel ships with a thread protector to cover the 1/2×28 muzzle threads when no suppressor or muzzle device is attached.
