Description

The Safariland 6378 ALS Paddle Holster is built for plainclothes carry or off-duty use where a low-profile outside-the-waistband setup makes more sense than a full-duty rig. It fits the Colt 1911 Government and is cut for right-hand draw.

The retention system is Safariland’s Automatic Locking System. When the pistol is holstered, a locking mechanism engages the ejection port area automatically — no manual step required. To draw, the shooter sweeps a finger across a release lever on the side of the holster as the hand comes onto the grip, so the motion integrates naturally into the draw stroke without requiring a separate manipulation. This design keeps the firearm secured without demanding deliberate re-engagement after reholstering.

The interior is suede-lined, which cushions the pistol’s finish and protects the sights from contact wear during daily carry. The outer shell uses Safariland’s SafariLaminate construction — a thermoplastic wraparound structure that holds its shape under load and resists deformation in heat. The STX Plain finish is a matte black texture designed to reduce surface glare and avoid the sheen of polished finishes.

The mounting platform combines a paddle and a belt slide in one unit, giving the carrier the option to clip over a waistband using the paddle or thread a belt through the integrated loops without swapping attachments. The holster sits with a slight forward cant and rides close to the body, which aids concealment under a jacket or untucked shirt.
