Description

The Safariland Model 7378 is a concealment-oriented outside-the-waistband holster built for shooters who want a reliable retention system in a package trim enough for everyday carry. It is cut for the 1911 Commander in right-hand configuration and ships in a plain black finish.

The holster is molded from SafariSeven, Safariland’s proprietary DuPont nylon blend. Unlike Kydex, SafariSeven is non-abrasive against a firearm’s finish, so extended daily use won’t wear the bluing or coating on the slide. The material is injection-molded to tight tolerances, which keeps the shell lightweight without sacrificing rigidity. Raised stand-off surfaces on the interior create a small air gap around the gun, letting moisture and debris shed away from the frame rather than sitting against it. The matte finish eliminates glare and resists the kind of surface degradation that would otherwise require periodic reconditioning.

Retention comes from the ALS — Automatic Locking System — which engages a mechanical lock the moment the pistol seats fully in the holster. There is no external strap to fumble with and nothing to deactivate before the draw stroke begins. A single thumb motion releases the lock, after which the draw is a straight vertical pull with no rotating or rocking required. That geometry matters for a concealment holster: a linear draw keeps the cover garment from catching and allows a consistent presentation under stress.

The 7378 ships with both a flexible paddle and an adjustable belt loop, so the mounting option can be matched to the carry situation rather than committing permanently to one attachment method. The paddle allows fast on and off without threading through a belt, while the belt loop locks the holster in place more securely for extended wear.
