Description
The Safariland Species is an inside-the-waistband holster built around appendix carry for the Springfield Hellcat. Its construction pairs a Cordura outer with a Safari Laminate thermal-molded shell, which gives the holster enough rigidity to maintain its shape during reholstering without adding the bulk of a full hard-shell design. That balance matters in appendix carry, where anything that digs into the midsection becomes an endurance problem over a full day.
Retention is handled passively through the trigger guard, meaning no buttons or levers are required to draw — pressure from the holster body against the guard holds the pistol until the shooter breaks it clear. A separate tension adjustment device lets the user tune how much resistance that draw requires, so the same holster can be dialed in for training or daily carry without swapping components.
The mounting clip is both cant-adjustable and vertically adjustable, which allows the wearer to shift ride height and angle until the grip sits where the hand naturally finds it. The clip accepts standard 1.5-inch belt widths. A sight channel is cut into the shell to clear standard-height sights, and the holster is also optic-compatible, accommodating a range of compact red dots including the Romeo Zero, RMR CC, Shield RMS, Shield RMS-C, Holosun 407K, Holosun 507K, Hex Wasp, and several others of similar footprint. This variant is configured for right-hand draw and finished in black.
