Description
The Safariland Species is an inside-the-waistband holster built around a single purpose: discrete, comfortable everyday carry without sacrificing the retention and draw consistency that Safariland’s duty-oriented designs are known for. It’s aimed at concealed carriers who want a purpose-built IWB option rather than a generic shell, and it’s cut specifically for the Springfield Hellcat Pro — not a family of similar pistols, just this one, so the fit is precise rather than approximate.
Construction is SafariLaminate, a thermally molded laminate process that produces a rigid shell without the weight of a full Kydex build. A suede interior lining protects the pistol’s finish during draw cycles and helps the gun seat consistently each time. Retention is handled passively through the trigger guard geometry, and a separate tension adjustment device lets the carrier dial in how much resistance they want on the draw — useful when switching between different carry positions or clothing layers. The mounting clip is both cant-adjustable and vertically adjustable, which means the ride height and angle can be tuned for appendix, strong-side, or other IWB positions rather than being locked to a single geometry.
The holster is optic-compatible, clearing several common miniature red dots including the Holosun 407K, Holosun 507K, RMR CC, Shield RMS, Shield RMS-C, Romeo Zero, Hex Wasp, J-Point, Swampfox Sentinel, and Crimson Trace 1550, among similar footprints. The clip is sized for standard 1.5-inch belt widths. This is a right-hand configuration only — Safariland does not currently offer a left-hand variant in this model.
