Description
The Safariland Species is an inside-the-waistband holster built for shooters who carry the Sig Sauer P365 and want a purpose-designed fit rather than a universal solution. Its construction centers on SafariLaminate, a thermal-molded material that combines a rigid outer layer with a suede lining — the rigidity holds the holster open during reholstering without a second hand, while the suede reduces direct contact wear on the pistol’s finish over time.
Retention is handled passively through an integrated trigger guard lock, meaning no external levers or buttons to actuate on the draw. The tension adjustment lets the shooter tune how firmly the pistol seats, which matters when dialing in a consistent draw stroke at a specific cant or depth. That cant and ride height are both adjustable through a fully cantable mounting clip, which also accommodates standard 1.5-inch belt widths — relevant because appendix carry in particular benefits from fine positional control to avoid printing and improve comfort when seated.
The design is optic-compatible, clearing Romeo Zero, RMR CC, Shield RMS, Shield RMS-C, Swampfox Sentinel, Hex Wasp, and J-Point footprints, so a P365 already fitted with a compact red dot does not require a separate holster. The sight channel also clears standard-height iron sights. This is a right-hand draw holster.
