Description
The Safariland Species is an inside-the-waistband holster built specifically for appendix carry with the SIG Sauer P365 XMacro. It is aimed at shooters who want a purpose-designed, body-close carry option rather than a generic fit holster that accommodates a broad range of handguns. Firearm-specific molding means the fit is tight and repeatable from the first draw rather than something you dial in over weeks of break-in.
The shell is constructed from SafariLaminate, a thermally molded laminate material that combines a suede inner lining with a hard outer shell. The suede contact layer protects the pistol’s finish during repeated insertions and helps the gun seat consistently, while the rigid outer structure maintains holster shape when the pistol is drawn — a meaningful advantage for one-handed reholstering under any condition. The integrated passive trigger guard retention uses the geometry of the mold itself to hold the firearm, so there are no levers or buttons to manage on the draw stroke, while still providing enough resistance to prevent the gun from shifting during movement.
An adaptable tension device lets the shooter tune retention feel independently of the trigger guard geometry, which is useful as a holster wears in over time. The mounting clip is fully cantable and vertically adjustable, allowing changes to ride height and cant angle without swapping hardware, so the holster can be positioned for comfort across different body types and belt positions. The clip accepts standard 1.5-inch belt widths. A sight channel cut into the mold provides clearance for standard-height sights, and the holster is compatible with several compact optics including the Romeo Zero, RMR CC, Shield RMS, Shield RMS-C, Swampfox Sentinel, Hex Wasp, and J-Point. The MultiCam Black finish keeps the exterior low-profile under a cover garment.
