Description
The Safariland Species is an inside-the-waistband holster built specifically for the S&W M&P Shield Plus, designed for concealed carry where keeping a low profile under a cover garment is the priority. The minimalist construction trims bulk in the areas that matter most for appendix carry, so the holster rides closer to the body without the extra material that makes a larger package print through a shirt.
The shell is thermally molded from SafariLaminate, a layered construction that holds its shape under the sustained heat and pressure of daily carry while a suede interior lining cushions the firearm’s finish during draw and reholster cycles. Passive trigger guard retention handles security without requiring the shooter to disengage a mechanical lock — the holster releases cleanly on a deliberate draw and resets on reholster. An adjustable tension device lets you tune how much resistance the draw requires, which matters when switching between carry positions or adjusting for seasonal clothing changes.
The mounting clip is both fully cantable and vertically adjustable, so ride height and cant angle can be dialed in independently rather than accepting a fixed geometry. It fits standard 1.5-inch belt widths. The sight channel is cut to clear standard-height sights, and the holster is compatible with several compact red dot optics including the Romeo Zero, RMR CC, Shield RMS, Shield RMS-C, Swampfox Sentinel, Hex Wasp, and J-Point. The MultiCam Black finish on the laminate exterior keeps the pattern low-contrast without drawing attention when the holster is briefly visible during use.
