Description
The Safariland Species is an inside-the-waistband holster built around a minimalist footprint, making it a practical choice for everyday concealed carry—particularly for appendix carry where bulk directly affects comfort and printability. It is purpose-fit for the Taurus G2C and G3C and is configured for right-hand draw.
The shell is constructed from SafariLaminate, a thermal-molded material that holds its shape under the repeated stress of daily draw cycles without requiring break-in. Inside, a suede lining cushions contact between the holster body and the pistol’s finish, reducing the wear that bare polymer-on-polymer contact can cause over time. These two materials work together: the rigid outer shell maintains the holster’s mouth for one-handed reholstering, while the interior lining keeps the gun from shifting under the shell once seated.
Retention is handled passively through a trigger guard lock rather than an active thumb release, which keeps the draw stroke simple and consistent. An adjustable tension device lets the shooter dial in resistance at the trigger guard—useful for finding the balance between secure retention during physical activity and a clean, repeatable draw. This kind of adjustability matters because carry position, clothing, and personal draw technique all affect how much resistance feels right to a given shooter. The Species is also noted as compatible with optics, so it accommodates red-dot-equipped G2C and G3C pistols without requiring a separate cutout variant. Mounting is accomplished via a belt clip sized for a 1.5-inch belt.
