Description
The Safariland Species is an inside-the-waistband holster built around a minimalist philosophy: remove bulk where it creates printing or discomfort without sacrificing the retention and draw consistency that concealed carry demands. It is designed for shooters who carry the Taurus GX4 Micro Compact daily and want a holster that disappears under a cover garment rather than one that merely fits.
Construction is SafariLaminate thermal-molded around the specific profile of the GX4, which means the fit is tight from day one and does not loosen the way fabric-only holsters can over time. The interior is suede-lined to protect the pistol’s finish during repeated draws and reholsters. Passive trigger guard retention keeps the firearm secured without a button or lever to manipulate — the draw breaks the retention naturally, while reholstering re-engages it. A separate tension-adjustment device lets the carrier tune resistance to their own preference, which is useful as holster materials settle with use.
The mounting clip is fully cantable and vertically adjustable, so carry angle and ride height can be dialed in for appendix, strong-side, or any position that suits the carrier’s build and clothing. It fits standard 1.5-inch belt widths. The Multicam exterior is a Cordura finish over the laminate shell. The holster is also optic-compatible, accommodating small red dot sights in that footprint class without requiring a separate cut or adapter. Hand is right-hand draw.
