Description
The Safariland Species is an inside-the-waistband holster built specifically for appendix carry with the Taurus GX4. Where traditional IWB designs add material in the name of rigidity, the Species trims bulk at the points that matter most for close-to-body concealment, keeping the package tight without sacrificing the structural integrity needed for reliable reholstering one-handed.
Construction uses SafariLaminate, a thermal-molded material that holds its shape under the heat and pressure of daily carry better than softer alternatives, and a suede interior lining that cushions the GX4’s finish against the abrasion that bare polymer can cause over time. Passive trigger guard retention is built into the molded shell itself, so the firearm stays put during movement without requiring a manual locking device to release on the draw. An adaptable tension device lets the carrier dial in exactly how much resistance the holster presents, which is a meaningful adjustment for anyone who has settled into a specific draw stroke and wants the holster to match it rather than work against it.
The mounting clip is both fully cantable and vertically adjustable, giving real control over ride height and cant angle to suit different body types and carry positions. It fits standard 1.5-inch belt widths. The sight channel is cut for standard-height sights, and the holster is also optic-compatible — designed to clear the Romeo Zero, RMR CC, Shield RMS, Shield RMS-C, Swampfox Sentinel, Hex Wasp, and J-Point, among similar footprint optics. This is a right-hand holster in STX Tactical Black finish.
