Description

The Liberty Charging Handle from Sons of Liberty Gun Works is built for shooters who run suppressed rifles regularly but want a handle that works just as well on unsuppressed guns. The core problem with standard charging handles in a suppressed setup is gas blowback into the receiver — the Liberty addresses this by incorporating a raised lip at the rear that seats against the back of the upper receiver, disrupting that gas path before it reaches the shooter’s face.

The ambidextrous latch design lets you work the handle from either side without adjusting your grip or breaking position, which matters in dynamic shooting or when shooting from awkward angles. The latch profile is deliberately shaped to avoid snagging on gear, optic bodies, or kit — a real consideration on a handle this far back in the receiver.

This is the standard-width version of the LCH, running 0.2 inches wider than the narrow latch variant. That extra width gives you more surface to index against under stress or with gloves, but it does sit wider than a USGI handle, so shooters using low-mounted optics or bulky chest rigs may want to consider the narrow latch instead. The body is machined from 7075 aluminum — a grade chosen for its strength-to-weight ratio — and finished to Mil-Spec Hard Coat Type III anodize, which gives it meaningful abrasion resistance without adding a coating that can chip or peel.

At roughly four ounces, it adds negligible weight while giving you a handle that is purpose-designed for the way modern AR-15 rifles are actually run.
