Description

Sons of Liberty Gun Works built this spring for shooters who run suppressed AR-15s or rifles already tuned to cycle on the hotter end of the spring-rate spectrum. Standard mil-spec rifle springs work fine on unsuppressed guns with standard gas setups, but adding a suppressor increases backpressure and drives the bolt carrier back harder and faster than the system was designed for. A spring with roughly ten percent more force than the mil-spec baseline slows that rearward velocity, reduces felt impulse, and helps prevent short-stroking or over-travel that can cause malfunctions under those conditions. SOLGW has used extra-power springs as a baseline in their own rifles for years, which means this spring reflects real-world tuning rather than a theoretical spec.

The spring is wound from 17-7 stainless steel and then passivated, a chemical process that removes surface iron and builds a more stable oxide layer than the base alloy alone would form. The result is a spring that resists corrosion from humidity, solvent exposure, and bore gas residue over time. The black finish serves a practical purpose: it lets you distinguish this spring from a standard rifle-length spring at a glance, which matters during assembly or when sorting parts from multiple builds. This is a rifle-length design, so it is only compatible with intermediate, A5, and full rifle-length buffer systems — not carbine tubes.
