Description

The Strike Industries JComp Gen 2 is a muzzle device built around the compensator design used on the Type 89 rifle of the Japan Self-Defense Forces, reworked for AK-pattern rifles chambered in 7.62x39mm. The original concept earned a following for its ability to control muzzle rise without the aggressive side blast that plagues many brakes, and this second generation refines that balance further by increasing rise compensation over what the first version offered.

The two-chamber internal layout is what separates a compensator from a simple brake. Gas entering the chambers is redirected to push the muzzle downward as the rifle fires, keeping the sights on target during rapid strings rather than letting the muzzle climb between shots. The result is a hybrid device that blends brake and compensator function in a single unit, with a rating system that acknowledges its trade-offs honestly: side blast is deliberately sacrificed in favor of recoil and rise control.

For shooters who do want to tame that side blast, the port geometry is specifically designed to accept the Strike Industries Oppressor or the Ferfrans CRD blast mitigation devices, converting an open-ported brake into something more range-friendly without replacing the device entirely. An AK detent notch keeps the comp indexed correctly and prevents rotation under sustained fire. Construction is 1144 stress-proof carbon steel with a black phosphate finish, which holds up to the heat and fouling that AK muzzle devices routinely see.

At 2.55 inches long and 3.6 ounces, it adds minimal weight and length while delivering a measurable reduction in felt rise compared to a factory slant brake.
