SUREFIRE GRIP SWITCH X/XH LIGHTS 1911

Description

The SureFire DG-18 is a grip switch assembly designed for 1911 pistols equipped with a factory rail, pairing with X-Series and XH-Series WeaponLights. Its purpose is straightforward: let the shooter activate the light without relocating any finger from its natural grip position. The switch pad sits at the center of the grip panel area, so pressure applied during a normal firing grip is enough to actuate it — there is no need to reach for a separate pressure pad or reposition the thumb.

The switch offers both momentary and constant-on modes through an ambidextrous push and toggle arrangement. Momentary activation gives the shooter direct control — light is on while pressure is held, off when released — which suits situations where continuous illumination would give away position. The constant-on toggle handles extended use without requiring sustained finger pressure. Because the switch is ambidextrous, it works from either side of the grip without modification.

Note that the DG-18 fits standard 1911 platforms with a factory rail. SureFire also produces the DG-18A, which is cut specifically for the Kimber TLE; if that is your platform, that variant is the correct choice rather than this one. The DG-18 is also not compatible with the XH50G WeaponLight — every other X-Series and XH-Series light in the lineup is supported, but that particular model is excluded.

Installation is straightforward for a shooter already comfortable with 1911 grip panel work. The result is a weapon-mounted lighting solution that does not force a grip compromise — the light becomes a function of the hold you already use rather than an afterthought strapped to the trigger guard.
