Description
The SureFire SFLFP123-KIT is built for shooters who run their lights hard and want to stop cycling through single-use 123A primaries. The kit pairs two Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) cells with a two-bay smart charger and a Micro-USB to USB-A cable, so everything you need to get started is in the box.
LiFePO4 chemistry is a deliberate trade-off. These cells run at 3.2V nominal rather than the 3.0V of a standard lithium primary, and their 450mAh capacity is meaningfully lower than SureFire’s disposable 123A cells — so runtime per charge will be shorter. What you gain is the ability to recharge rather than replace: the cells retain roughly 80% of their original capacity after hundreds of charge cycles, which adds up to real savings over time and keeps dead batteries out of the waste stream. There are no hazardous heavy metals in the chemistry.
The smart charger handles one or two cells simultaneously and uses internal circuitry to terminate the charge automatically when a cell reaches capacity, protecting against overcharge. A full two-cell charge takes up to three hours; a single cell can be ready in as little as 1.5 hours. Additional safety circuits guard against short-circuit and reverse polarity.
One restriction matters: LFP cells are rated for LED illumination tools only. Do not use them in any SureFire product that still uses an incandescent lamp — the voltage and discharge characteristics are not compatible with that design. For LED-based WeaponLights and hands-free lights, they are a straightforward drop-in.
