Description
The SOCOM556-RC4 is SureFire’s fourth-generation combat suppressor for 5.56 platforms, built for shooters who run their equipment hard and need a can that keeps pace. It is designed around a principle that most suppressor buyers underestimate: back pressure management matters as much as decibel reduction. Conventional suppressor designs trap and redirect propellant gases in ways that drive those gases back into the action and into the shooter’s face. SureFire’s revised internal flow geometry cuts that back pressure by 60% compared to earlier SOCOM designs, which translates directly into less fouling in the action, reduced carrier velocity stress on parts, and noticeably cleaner air around the shooter’s head during sustained fire.
The muzzle end has been redesigned as well, improving gas flow dynamics in a way that meaningfully reduces visible flash — not just on the first round, but consistently as the suppressor heats up, which is when most designs start to degrade. The reinforced muzzle construction also adds resistance to front-impact damage, a practical concern for any rifle carried in the field. The entire body is built from Inconel superalloy, a nickel-chromium material chosen because it holds its mechanical properties under the sustained heat and erosion that short-barreled 5.56 rifles generate during full-auto and rapid-fire use. At 6.3 inches overall, the RC4 adds only 3.8 inches to the host firearm, and it is optimized for barrels starting at 10.3 inches. Mounting is handled by SureFire’s patented Fast-Attach system, which requires no tools and is backward compatible with the full range of existing SureFire SOCOM Fast-Attach muzzle devices already in service. This Dark Earth example carries a Cerakote finish and is the same suppressor available in black — the construction underneath is identical.
