Description

Running a suppressor on a new host requires more than threading it on and pulling the trigger. Any misalignment between the bore, the adapter, and the suppressor’s internal baffles puts the bullet flight path off-center — and the consequences range from degraded accuracy to a baffle strike. The SureFire SF-ROD-9 gives you a concrete way to verify that alignment before the first round goes downrange.

The rod is precision-machined from heat-treated stainless steel and sized specifically for 9mm. With the suppressor mounted on an unloaded host and the rod inserted through the bore, you can see directly whether the gap between the rod and the suppressor’s bore is concentric. Any deviation is immediately visible. That physical check is more reliable than assuming a correctly torqued mount guarantees concentricity — threads can be clean, timing can be correct, and misalignment can still be present from a barrel that isn’t perfectly centered in the receiver or an adapter with slight runout.

SureFire recommends performing this check on any new build and on any previously unshot suppressor setup — not as a one-time formality but as a deliberate step in the setup process. The rod represents the actual bullet path, so what you see is exactly what the projectile will encounter.
