Description
The Timney Alpha Competition trigger is built for competitive shooters and serious Glock owners running large-frame Gen 3 or Gen 4 pistols who want a meaningful improvement over the factory trigger without compromising the mechanical reliability the platform is known for. It fits the Gen 3 G20SF, G21SF, G29SF, and G30SF, along with the Gen 4 G20, G21, G29, G30, G30S, G40 MOS, G41, and G41MOS.
The core engineering choice here is the trigger bar and sear, both treated with a Teflon-nickel finish — a process Timney calls NP3 — which significantly reduces metal-on-metal friction through the firing cycle without requiring changes to springs or other internal components. All stock Glock parts and springs remain in place, which means the trigger’s feel and reset stay within the mechanical envelope the pistol was designed around, preserving the striker’s consistent ignition characteristics.
The trigger shoe itself is straight aluminum with an orange anodized safety blade. The straight profile changes the leverage geometry compared to a curved shoe, giving the break a more consistent feel across different finger placements — a meaningful difference when shooting at speed under pressure. The orange safety blade is functional identification as much as aesthetics, making it immediately clear the factory trigger has been replaced.
Pull weight is set at 3 pounds from the factory, light enough for precision shooting but within a range that still allows positive reset under stress. Timney recommends installation by a qualified gunsmith, and given that this involves fitting a new trigger bar and sear to a striker-fired system, that guidance is worth following.
