The Walker’s FireMax Behind-the-Neck Muff is built for shooters who wear hats, helmets, or other headwear that conflicts with a conventional overhead headband. By routing the band behind the neck rather than over the top of the head, the muff sits clear of brims and ear flaps without shifting position when you mount a rifle or change stance at the range.

The electronic side of the design centers on a digital audio circuit with omni-directional microphones. Digital processing offers a faster reaction time than analog circuitry, which matters when the compression needs to clamp down on a muzzle blast before the sound pressure reaches a damaging level. Once the impulse passes, the circuit opens back up, so you can carry on a conversation or hear a range command without removing the muffs. Four selectable listening modes — Universal, Clear Voice, High-Frequency, and Power Boost — let you tune the pickup to the acoustic environment you’re actually in rather than accepting a single fixed response curve.

Power comes from an integrated 2000mAh lithium battery charged via USB-C. A 150-hour runtime means this is not a muff you need to manage closely between sessions; a single charge can cover an extended hunting season or a long stretch of range days before the battery becomes a concern. The IP54 rating means light rain and dust won’t interrupt a session outdoors.

Comfort over long strings of fire comes from cooling gel earpads and a rubber tacti-grip headband, and the rubberized spray finish on the composite housing handles field handling without looking worn quickly. A 3.5mm audio jack allows connection to an external radio or communication device when needed.
