The Walker’s Recon Bluetooth ear muffs are built for tactical shooters and regular range visitors who want hearing protection that keeps pace with everything else going on around them. At 26dB NRR, they attenuate impulse noise from gunfire, but the more important part of that equation is how they do it: Sound Activated Compression kicks in fast enough that normal ambient sound passes through undistorted while sharp reports are compressed before they can cause damage. The difference from passive muffs is that you do not sacrifice situational awareness to get that protection.

The digital amplification circuit does the complementary job, picking up low-level sounds — range commands, conversation, environmental cues — and bringing them up to an audible level without muddying the output. HD speakers with full dynamic range handling are what make that amplified signal usable rather than just louder. An integrated microphone allows two-way communication through a paired smartphone without removing the muffs.

Bluetooth 5.0 connects to mobile devices through the Walker’s Link 2.0 app, available on iOS and Android, which handles pairing and controls. That same connectivity is what lets the muffs work with the Recon Hybrid Comms walkie-talkie, a separate attachment that taps into 22 GPRS radio channels and allows hands-free communication at range. The muffs also carry a 3.5mm audio jack for wired connections when wireless is not preferred or practical.

The housing combines a sound-dampening composite shell with a bonded rubber outer coating, and the IPX4 rating means they handle splashing and sweat without issue. Auto shutoff is adjustable at 2, 4, or 6 hours. Power comes from two AAA batteries.
