Description

The MR7 is Yankee Hill Machine’s free-floating M-LOK handguard for AR-15 builds where weight is a genuine concern rather than an afterthought. Free-floating means the handguard makes no contact with the barrel after installation, so pressure from a sling, a barrier, or a forward grip cannot flex the barrel and shift your point of impact — a meaningful mechanical advantage over drop-in designs that clamp around the gas tube and delta ring.

M-LOK slots run the full length of the tube at every 45-degree position, which means you are not limited to the 3, 6, and 9 o’clock positions that most slotted handguards offer. That matters when you are mounting a light or pressure switch at an odd angle to clear a support hand or get a specific grip. The extended Picatinny top rail is “T” marked and runs continuous, keeping optics, iron sights, and full-length sight rails properly registered.

The tube is machined from 6061-T6 aluminum and finished in hard-coat anodize to mil-spec, which gives the surface genuine abrasion resistance rather than the thin decorative anodizing common on lighter-duty components. The inner diameter of 1.75 inches provides clearance for most suppressor-ready setups without adding unnecessary bulk to the outside profile. At 12.22 ounces for the 10-inch length, the MR7 keeps the front end light enough to matter on a carbine you carry for extended periods.

Installation hardware is included — barrel nut, jam nut, and anti-rotation screws — along with instructions. YHM recommends their dedicated handguard wrench (YHM-9621) to protect the upper receiver finish during installation. Made in the USA.
