Where a bare muzzle or simple thread protector leaves the shooter dealing with the full signature of a large-bore cartridge, the Phantom’s five-port design bleeds off propellant gases in a pattern that cuts flash while simultaneously applying upward and lateral compensation to reduce muzzle rise during rapid fire.

The -5C2 variant is the aggressive-cut version, distinguished by its toothed front end. That geometry serves a secondary purpose beyond aesthetics: the crenulated crown gives the shooter a contact edge in close-quarters situations where a firearm might be used as an impact tool. The five-port arrangement on this model includes a downward-facing port, which differentiates it from the smooth -5C1 sibling — that downward port adds compensation but can disturb loose surface material when firing from the prone position, a trade-off worth considering for prone shooters in dusty or sandy environments.

Construction is 4140 steel with a Black Oxide finish, chosen for corrosion resistance and dimensional stability under the heat cycling that a .308 muzzle device endures in regular use. The 5/8″-24 thread pitch matches the standard for most .308-platform barrels, and a crush washer is included to allow proper indexing on installation. At 2 ounces, the Phantom adds minimal reciprocating mass to the muzzle end, which matters for those running the rifle suppressor-ready or with a lightweight rail build already balanced forward.
