Description

The MR7 is Yankee Hill Machine’s M-LOK successor to their KR7 KeyMod handguard line, carrying the same free-floating design philosophy into the M-LOK platform. It is built for AR-15 owners who want a genuinely light rail without giving up mounting flexibility — the M-LOK slots run the full length of the handguard and appear at every 45-degree position, so accessories can be positioned at nearly any clock angle rather than only at 3, 6, and 9 o’clock as with many competing layouts.

The top rail is an extended Picatinny section marked with a “T” designation, which provides a continuous sighting plane from the handguard onto the upper receiver. That continuity matters when co-witnessing red dots or mounting longer optic bases that need consistent rail height across the transition point. The free-floating design means the handguard contacts the barrel nut rather than the barrel itself, so pressure from a sling, a bipod, or a support hand does not deflect the barrel — a meaningful consideration for accuracy at longer distances.

Construction is 6061-T6 aluminum with a Hard Coat Anodized matte black finish applied to Mil-Spec standards. The aluminum alloy keeps weight down without requiring exotic materials, and the hard coat anodizing is durable enough for field use rather than just range work. Both front and rear positions accept YHM’s Q.D. swiveling sling mount, giving you two anchor points without additional hardware. Installation requires a barrel nut, jam nut, and anti-rotation screws, all of which are included. YHM recommends their dedicated handguard wrench to protect the upper receiver finish during installation, though it is sold separately.
