Description

The AD-Recon M is built for shooters who run high-magnification glass on a flattop AR-15 and need the scope positioned correctly for both eye relief and clearance. The cantilever design shifts the optic two inches forward, which matters most on shorter rifles where a conventionally positioned mount would push the scope too far rearward to achieve a usable sight picture. That two-inch offset lets you dial in proper eye relief without forcing an awkward head position or compromising your cheekweld.

The mid-height configuration raises the scope centerline to approximately 1.7 inches above the bore axis with a 34mm tube in place. That extra height serves two practical purposes: it gives a laser sighting system mounted ahead of the scope enough clearance to function without obstruction, and it allows a more upright, heads-up shooting posture that some tactical and competition shooters prefer over a prone-optimized low mount.

American Defense machines the body from 6061-T6 aluminum and finishes it in a hard coat T3 Mil-Spec anodize — a combination that keeps weight down while resisting the corrosion and wear that come with field use. The patented QD Auto Lock Lever system is the mechanical centerpiece: it clamps to Picatinny rail without tools, using a lever that can be configured to lock toward the front or the rear depending on your setup. The system is also tolerant of rail sections that fall slightly outside of specification, which is a genuine advantage on rifles where the rail is not perfectly dimensioned. Adjustment requires only a flat-blade screwdriver or a finger, so no proprietary tooling is needed in the field.
