The BCM A/T Optic Riser 525-10X5 is built for shooters who run optics over a free-float handguard and need a mounting platform that doesn’t rely on contact between the upper receiver and the handguard rail for structural support. That cantilever design matters: when a riser bridges across the gap between upper and handguard, any flex or dimensional mismatch in that joint can introduce instability and compromise zero. By extending forward as a self-supported cantilever, this riser keeps the optic anchored entirely to the upper receiver rail, removing that variable from the equation.
The 0.525-inch height gain does more than satisfy a preference for tall mounts. At that rise, a lower-third co-witness optic lands at approximately 2.16 inches above the bore centerline, and an absolute co-witness optic lands at roughly 1.93 inches. That additional height is the difference between needing to break cheek weld to clear night vision or other head-worn equipment and being able to maintain a natural firing position with it in place. For anyone regularly training or operating with NODs or ballistic face protection, that clearance is functional rather than cosmetic.
The interface itself uses BCM’s Angled Torque system, where the clamp applies force along an angled plane rather than straight horizontal. The result is greater clamping force at a given torque value compared to a conventional horizontal interface, and the low-profile geometry keeps the full rail length usable for additional accessories without creating snag points. The main body and cantilever section together provide 15 total recoil slots and 16 lugs, giving the platform multiple anchor points to resist movement under recoil in both directions. The riser body is machined from aircraft aluminum alloy and hard coat anodized to Mil-A-8625F; the steel clamp is Nitride hardened for strength at the highest-stress point in the assembly.
