Description

The Banshee MK4 is CMMG’s compact AR-format pistol built around the standard AR-15 platform, chambered in .223 Rem/5.56 NATO. It suits shooters who want a maneuverable, centerfire AR in a short-barreled configuration without stepping away from the ubiquitous AR control set and parts ecosystem they already know. The ambidextrous safety means left- and right-handed shooters can run the gun with the same efficiency, which matters in any practical-use context where a fumble costs time.

The 10.5-inch barrel runs a carbine-length gas system, which on a barrel this short means the gas port sits closer to the muzzle than on a mid-length setup. That geometry produces higher port pressure and a sharper, faster recoil impulse compared to the same caliber in a longer gas configuration — something to account for when tuning a suppressor or buffer weight. The barrel is threaded 1/2-28 at the muzzle, and CMMG fits a linear muzzle device from the factory, which redirects the concussive blast forward rather than dispersing it to the sides — a practical consideration when shooting in covered positions or alongside others. Barrel material is 4140 chrome-moly steel finished in Cerakote Armor Black, which provides corrosion resistance without the weight penalty of a stainless profile.

The handguard is CMMG’s EML9 in M-Lok configuration, giving the shooter a free-float rail with attachment points along the full lower and side panels without adding bulk. The upper is optics ready with no iron sights installed, so the shooter selects whatever optic suits their intended use rather than paying for hardware they would likely remove. The pistol ships with one 30-round magazine and CMMG’s RipBrace pistol stabilizing brace.
