Description
The CMMG Banshee MkG is a pistol-caliber AR built around .45 ACP, and it is aimed at shooters who want a compact, hard-hitting platform that runs on readily available Glock-pattern .45 ACP magazines. The MkG designation signals the magazine interface: the lower receiver is engineered specifically for Glock-compatible double-stack .45 ACP magazines, which keeps the feeding geometry tight and eliminates the adapter systems that can introduce reliability variables in other pistol-caliber builds.
The engine behind this platform is CMMG’s Radial Delayed Blowback operating system. Standard straight blowback designs manage the .45 ACP’s relatively high bolt thrust by relying on a heavy bolt carrier group and a stiff buffer — a combination that tends to produce a sharp, abrupt recoil impulse. Radial Delayed Blowback introduces a rotating delay at the moment of firing, allowing chamber pressure to drop before the bolt begins its rearward travel. The result is a softer, more progressive recoil impulse and the ability to run a lighter bolt carrier group and buffer than a comparable straight blowback design requires, which in turn reduces muzzle rise and speeds up follow-up shots.
The five-inch barrel on this variant keeps overall length compact while still delivering meaningful velocity from the .45 ACP cartridge. The handguard features full-length M-LOK slots on both sides and the underside, with additional M-LOK positions between the top Picatinny rail sections, giving a clean mounting surface for lights, grips, or other accessories without cluttering the rail. Sights are not included; the platform ships optics-ready, so the shooter selects whatever red dot or magnified optic suits the intended role. The ambidextrous safety makes the controls accessible regardless of which hand is dominant.
