Description
The CMMG Dissent Mk4 is built for shooters who need an AR-platform pistol in the smallest possible package without rebuilding their manual of arms. It is a purpose-designed personal defense weapon, equally suited to vehicle carry, home defense in tight spaces, or compact backpack storage where a conventional AR-format firearm simply will not fit.
The central engineering achievement here is CMMG’s patent-pending Compact Action, which eliminates the buffer tube entirely. On a standard AR, the buffer tube is the structural reason the receiver cannot fold or terminate cleanly at the rear — it houses the recoil spring and buffer and dictates overall length. The Dissent moves that function into the receiver itself, so the pistol ends where the lower ends. The result is a platform substantially shorter than any AR running a traditional buffer system at the same barrel length.
Recoil management on a 6.5-inch barrel in 5.7x28mm is handled by CMMG’s Radial Delayed Blowback operating system. Rather than unlocking immediately at the chamber like a straight blowback design, the rotating bolt delays the opening cycle just long enough to reduce the sharp initial impulse that short-barreled blowback pistols typically produce. The 5.7x28mm cartridge itself is a low-recoil, high-velocity round that fits a 32-round magazine in a package comparable to a standard AR pistol grip, which is exactly what ships with this configuration.
The receiver is finished in Armor Black Cerakote and the pistol ships optic-ready with no iron sights installed, so your first accessory decision is a red dot or magnified optic rather than a backup sight set. A Picatinny buffer adapter and M-LOK handguard provide mounting options front and rear. Manual safety is included.
