Description
The EOTech XPS3-DCR is a holographic weapon sight built for shooters who run night-vision equipment and need every inch of rail space they can get. Where most holographic sights stack two batteries end-to-end along the bottom of the housing, the XPS3 mounts its single CR123A transversely — perpendicular to the bore — which shortens the overall footprint considerably. That recovered rail space makes it practical to run a magnifier directly behind the sight without crowding rear iron sights or a night-vision device forward of it.
The DCR reticle is a departure from EOTech’s familiar dual-ring patterns. It pairs a 68 MOA outer element with a 1 MOA center dot, a combination suited to engagements where fast acquisition at close range and precise hold-over at distance both matter. The large outer ring draws the eye to center quickly under stress; the tight center dot provides the precision reference when the situation slows down enough to use it.
Night-vision compatibility means the sight’s brightness settings step down below what the unaided eye can resolve in daylight, allowing it to work alongside Generation II and Generation III image intensifiers without washing out the display. Controls are located at the rear of the housing, accessible without breaking a firing grip. The matte black finish reduces glare and is consistent with the XPS3’s overall low-profile design intent. Power comes from a single CR123A lithium battery — a format that is widely available and holds voltage well across a broad temperature range.
