Description

The PWS Enhanced Buffer Tube addresses a real weak point in the standard AR-15 buffer tube design: carrier tilt. On a standard tube, the bolt carrier loses support from the tube as it travels rearward past the mouth, which accelerates wear on the lower receiver and is particularly hard on piston-driven uppers where the carrier is being pushed down at an angle by the piston’s geometry. PWS solves this by extending the tube’s forward lip so the carrier remains supported through its entire travel, from battery to bolt catch. This matters less on a basic direct-impingement carbine and considerably more if you are running a piston system.

The castle nut uses a ratcheting mechanism rather than staking, which changes the installation process in a practical way: you do not need a torque wrench and a punch to lock it down, and you can remove and reinstall the stock without destroying the nut or hunting for a staking tool. The tube itself is machined from 7075-T6 aluminum with longitudinal flutes that deviate from the plain mil-spec profile to clear debris and reduce mass while keeping the tube’s structural integrity intact. The finish is anodized black. The kit includes the tube, the ratchet-lock castle nut, and the endplate, covering everything you need for a complete stock swap on an AR-15 lower.
