Description

The Reptilia AUS Mount was developed over a two-year period in direct response to requirements from an end user group, and that origin shapes everything about how it is built. It is a scope mount for shooters who put magnified optics through genuine stress — sustained training, field use, or any context where a mount that shifts zero or rattles loose is a real problem rather than an inconvenience.

The body is machined from billet 7075-T6 aluminum, which gives the mount structural rigidity without unnecessary mass. The finish is a Mil-Std Type III, Class 2 hard anodize, a coating specification associated with mil-spec wear resistance rather than cosmetic durability alone. Where many mounts use a simple lever or screw clamp, the AUS uses an anti-snag spring-loaded nitrided steel rail clamp. The spring-loaded geometry keeps the clamp retracted and flush when the mount is off the rifle, so it seats cleanly on an M1913 Picatinny rail without snagging on the rail edges or requiring two-handed fumbling to index it. Nitriding the steel clamp adds surface hardness and corrosion resistance to the one component that takes direct contact wear against the rail.

The 34mm ring diameter accommodates the larger tube optics that have become standard on precision and designated marksman builds. The 1.93-inch center height positions the optical axis to work with night-vision devices and co-witnessed aiming solutions on flat-top AR-pattern receivers. The AUS is also compatible with Reptilia’s own line of 34mm AUS accessories, so the mount can serve as a foundation for modular additions rather than a fixed endpoint.
