Description

The Reptilia AUS Mount is a one-piece scope mount built for shooters who intend to run a magnified optic hard — on a carbine that sees regular field use, training rotations, or duty work where the mount needs to hold zero through repeated removal and return. It was developed over a two-year period in response to requirements from an end user group, which shaped the design decisions in ways that a purely commercial product often skips.

The body is machined from billet 7075-T6 aluminum, a material choice that keeps weight down without trading away the rigidity a precision optic demands. The finish is a Mil-Spec Type III hardcoat anodize, which means the surface hardness is achieved through an electrochemical process that penetrates the aluminum rather than sitting on top of it — the coating won’t peel or chip the way a painted or cerakoted surface can under sustained abrasion. This variant ships in Flat Dark Earth.

Attachment to a standard M1913 Picatinny rail uses a spring-loaded, nitrided steel clamp. The spring-loaded mechanism keeps the clamp seated and indexed consistently during mounting, and the nitrided steel resists corrosion and galling at the rail contact points where bare steel hardware would wear over time. The design is intentionally snag-free, which matters when the rifle is being worked quickly or stored in a case with other gear. The 1.93-inch center height positions the optic to co-witness with standard-height iron sights on a flat-top AR platform and is also compatible with the full line of Reptilia 34mm AUS accessories.
