Description

The AUS Mount was developed in response to direct requests from end users who needed a dedicated mounting solution for 35mm magnified optics—a tube diameter that sits between the more common 30mm and 34mm options and demands its own geometry to hold correctly. Reptilia spent two years refining the design before releasing it, and the result is a mount built around a single piece of billet 7075-T6 aluminum rather than assembled from separate rings, which eliminates the alignment variables that come with a two-piece ring system.

Attachment to the Picatinny rail relies on a spring-loaded nitrided steel clamp designed to sit flush against the body of the mount. The anti-snag profile means there are no protruding levers or edges to catch on gear during a hasty mount or dismount. The clamp bolt accepts either a 5/32-inch hex key or a flat-blade driver, so the mount can be tightened without a dedicated tool in the field. The 1.54-inch centerline height positions the optic to work naturally with standard cheekweld on most modern rifle stocks, particularly on flattop AR-platform rifles, and gives adequate clearance for objective bells common on LPVO and fixed-power scopes in this tube size.

The exterior carries a MIL-STD Type III, Class 2 hard anodize finish in Flat Dark Earth, the same process used on the rest of the AUS line, which provides a hard, corrosion-resistant surface rather than a simple dye or paint coat. At 168 grams, it adds meaningful but reasonable mass for what it offers in rigidity and construction quality. The mount is made in the USA.
