Description

The Safariland 578 GLS Pro-Fit in its long-slide, left-hand configuration is built for shooters who carry larger-framed pistols and need a retention holster that can adapt across multiple platforms without requiring a separate holster for each gun. The Pro-Fit design accommodates over 60 different firearms through an adjustable fit system, making it practical for anyone who rotates between duty or range pistols of varying frame sizes.

The core of this holster is the Grip Lock System. Rather than a thumb-operated external release, retention is disengaged automatically when the shooter establishes a standard firing grip — the middle finger contacts and depresses the release as part of the natural draw stroke. This means there is no separate step to learn or unlearn; the draw motion itself clears the retention. When the pistol is re-holstered, it locks back into retention automatically.

The holster body is constructed from SafariSeven, Safariland’s proprietary nylon blend. The material is non-abrasive against a pistol’s finish, dimensionally stable across temperature extremes, and resists warping that can cause fit issues with standard injection-molded polymer. Two mounting options are included: an injection-molded paddle for quick on and off, and an injection-molded belt loop that can be repositioned for cross-draw carry. The left-hand orientation places the draw on the right side of the holster body for right-hand access by a left-handed shooter.

This variant is specifically the long-slide configuration, suited to pistols with extended barrels that would not seat correctly in the standard-length version of the 578.
