Description
The Safariland 578 GLS Pro-Fit in its Long Slide configuration is built for shooters who carry full-size or competition-length handguns and want a single holster that adapts across a broad range of platforms rather than locking them into a gun-specific shell. The long slide body accommodates extended barrels like those on the Glock 34 and Glock 35, giving competitive shooters a retention holster that travels well between the range and everyday carry without requiring a separate purchase for each gun.
The core of the design is the Grip Lock System. When the gun is seated, a passive retention mechanism engages automatically — no manual thumb snap or locking lever to remember under stress. Drawing requires nothing beyond a standard firing grip: as the middle finger rises naturally into position on the grip, it depresses the release, and the gun comes free. That sequence is intuitive because it mirrors the grip the hand is already forming, which keeps the draw consistent whether or not the shooter is thinking about it.
The holster body is made from SafariSeven, Safariland’s proprietary nylon blend. The material is non-abrasive against a firearm’s finish, which matters when a gun lives in a holster for extended periods, and it handles temperature extremes without warping or becoming brittle. The package includes both an injection-molded paddle and a belt loop attachment, and the belt loop can be adjusted for cant and configured for cross-draw carry — useful for drivers or anyone who spends time seated. The optic-capable cut means the holster accommodates common red dot footprints without modification. Retention is right-hand orientation.
