Description
The Safariland 6385 is built for duty carry, designed specifically for officers and professionals who run a weapon-mounted light as standard equipment rather than as an afterthought. Fitting the Glock 17 with the SureFire X300U attached, it accommodates the light-bearing configuration without modification or adapters, so the draw stroke remains consistent whether the light is on or off.
The exterior is finished in Safariland’s STX Tactical texture, a hardshell material that resists abrasion and holds its shape under the kind of daily physical demand a duty rig sees — repeated draws, contact with vehicle seats, and exposure to weather. The rigid shell also plays a role in retention: because the holster maintains a fixed geometry, the firearm seats the same way every time, which matters when retention is set and expected to perform under stress.
The ALS — Automatic Locking System — is the retention mechanism here. When the pistol is holstered, a locking hood automatically engages over the rear of the slide, securing the firearm without requiring the user to manually activate a secondary lock. Release is accomplished with a thumb swipe on the way to the draw, a single motion that integrates naturally into a firing grip. This keeps the retention level meaningful for duty use while avoiding the two-handed or multi-step disengagement some retention systems require. The right-hand configuration and black finish make it a straightforward fit for standard duty belt setups.
