Description
The Safariland Species is an inside-the-waistband holster built for concealed carriers who want a purpose-designed IWB option rather than a general-purpose shell. It is cut specifically for the Glock 19, so the fit is precise rather than approximate — the firearm seats fully and consistently every time, which matters for both retention and a clean draw stroke.
The holster is constructed from SafariLaminate, a thermal-molded material that holds its shape under daily carry conditions. A suede interior lining keeps the handgun’s finish from wearing against a harder surface and contributes to a consistent feel on the draw. Retention is passive, handled by an integrated trigger guard mechanism with an adjustable tension device, so you can dial in how much resistance the holster provides without modifying the holster itself.
The mounting clip is fully cant-adjustable and can be repositioned vertically, which gives you real flexibility in finding a carry position that works with your body and clothing. It fits a standard 1.5-inch belt. The holster is also optic-compatible, accommodating a range of compact red dot sights commonly mounted on the Glock 19 platform, so it does not force you to remove an optic to carry IWB.
The STX finish on this model is a matte black SafariLaminate exterior treatment. This configuration is right-hand draw only. If you carry appendix or at the hip and want a holster that was built around your specific firearm rather than adapted from a universal shell, the Species is worth the consideration.
