SL SPECIES HELLCAT STX TAC BLK RT

Description

The Safariland Species is an inside-the-waistband holster built around the Springfield Hellcat, designed for concealed carry where minimizing bulk is the primary concern. It suits anyone who wants a purpose-built, right-hand IWB option backed by Safariland’s construction standards rather than a generic fit solution.

The holster is constructed from Boltaron, a thermoplastic that holds its molded shape reliably under daily carry conditions and resists the deformation that softer materials develop over time. That rigidity matters for IWB use because a holster that loses its form can obstruct the trigger guard or make reholstering a two-handed operation. The STX Tactical finish is Safariland’s matte, non-glare laminate surface applied over the Boltaron shell.

Safariland describes the Species as a minimalist design, and the practical effect of that approach is a smaller overall footprint than a full-retention duty holster adapted for concealment — less material pressing against the body, less printing through a cover garment. Tension adjustment is built in, letting the user dial in draw resistance to match their preference without swapping components. That same adjustment also governs how securely the pistol seats, so there is a real trade-off between a lighter draw and positive retention that the shooter sets according to their carry context.

For Hellcat owners who want a holster engineered specifically for that pistol’s dimensions rather than a universal design that accommodates it by compromise, the Species addresses that directly through its molded fit.
