Description
The SOLGW M4-L89 Pistol in 11.5″ 5.56mm is built for shooters who need a compact, hard-use AR-15 platform and are not willing to compromise on component quality to get there. Sons of Liberty Gun Works designed the L89 series around the working professional, and the specification list reflects that priority at every point.
The carbine-length gas system on an 11.5″ barrel is a deliberate pairing. A longer gas system relative to barrel length reduces port pressure at the moment of unlocking, which softens the initial impulse and puts less stress on the carrier. Sons of Liberty pairs that system with a Vltor A5 receiver extension running nine positions and an A5H2 buffer, a heavier buffer than a standard carbine setup. Together they slow the carrier’s rearward travel further, smoothing the recoil pulse in a way that a standard carbine buffer and four-position stock cannot match at this barrel length. The result is a pistol that runs suppressors more reliably and cycles more gently than the short barrel would otherwise suggest.
The Liberty Fighting Barrel uses a .223 Wylde chamber, which accepts both .223 Remington and 5.56 NATO ammunition without the pressure concerns that come with running 5.56 in a .223 SAAMI-spec chamber. The 1:7 twist stabilizes heavier projectiles effectively, giving the shooter access to 62-grain and heavier loads without sacrificing accuracy with lighter ammunition. Chrome lining in both the chamber and bore adds corrosion resistance and simplifies cleaning.
The L89 Drivelock handguard locks to an extended barrel nut rather than relying solely on the upper receiver’s face, which reduces flex at the handguard-to-receiver junction. The ambidextrous safety selector and Liberty two-stage trigger are factory fitted, not afterthought upgrades. Each pistol is individually test-fired before shipment and carries a lifetime warranty.
