Description
The SureFire SOCOM556-RC2 in Dark Earth is built for M4/M16-platform rifles with barrels of 10 inches or longer, and it suits anyone who wants a suppressor engineered to hold up under sustained, hard use rather than occasional range work. SureFire constructs the RC2 from high-temperature Inconel alloy baffles and a stainless steel body, both CNC laser-welded, because the thermal and pressure loads generated by 5.56 NATO—especially on short barrels or during automatic fire—will destroy softer materials over time. The Inconel baffle stack handles those extremes without degrading, which keeps the can performing consistently across a long service life.
The internal baffling geometry does more than reduce sound: it is specifically designed to reduce backpressure into the host weapon’s gas system. Excess backpressure from a suppressor increases cyclic rate, accelerates bolt carrier wear, and drives more combustion gas back into the shooter’s face. SureFire’s venting design addresses all three. The front-plate design also eliminates first-round flash, a real limitation in low-light environments where an unsuppressed or poorly baffled can will briefly blind the shooter on the opening shot.
SureFire’s Fast-Attach mounting system lets the RC2 attach and detach without tools, and it is compatible with the full range of SureFire Fast-Attach adapters—flash hiders, muzzle brakes, and WARCOMPs—so the mount can be matched to the host rifle’s role rather than being a fixed constraint. Every production unit is test-fired before shipment to confirm sub-1 MOA point-of-impact shift and group size, which matters when the suppressor is moving between multiple hosts that have been zeroed without it. The Dark Earth Cerakote and DLC finish completes a build already running tan or FDE furniture without requiring a refinish.
