The SureFire X300 Ultra in its X300U-B configuration is built for duty handguns, though it mounts equally well on long guns. It is the light you reach for when reliable, repeatable performance under hard use is the requirement — whether that means a patrol officer running a full shift or a home defender who needs a light that works every time without thought.

Output runs through a custom Total Internal Reflection lens rather than a conventional reflector. That design choice matters: a TIR lens shapes the beam into a smooth gradient with a defined center spot and broad peripheral spill, which means you get useful reach down a hallway without sacrificing the wide field of view needed to track movement in a room. At 11,300 candela of peak beam intensity, the center spot carries enough punch to identify a threat at distance while the surrounding spill keeps your situational awareness intact.

The X300U-B distinguishes itself from the X300U-A by its mounting method. Where the -A slides on with spring-loaded tabs, the -B uses a T-slot thumbscrew clamp that tightens down mechanically against Universal and Picatinny rails. That extra step at the holster or bench pays off in a connection that resists working loose under recoil over time, particularly on firearms where rail tolerances leave a little play.

Switching is ambidextrous and requires no grip adjustment — push for momentary activation, toggle for constant-on. The body is aerospace aluminum finished in Mil-Spec hard anodizing, and the entire unit is sealed to IPX7 standards, meaning full submersion to one meter for thirty minutes. Two CR123A batteries are included and power the light for 1.25 hours at full output.
